We have stayed in a lot of lodges and this is the first one that felt like a house. Hot tub was spotless and already up to temperature when we arrived. The walk round the lakes before breakfast made the week.

Two children, one dog, four nights. Marwell Zoo is genuinely a mile away so we walked it. Only note is that the pizza oven is seasonal and we had assumed it was open — check before you promise the kids.

No tannoy, no entertainment, nobody near enough to hear. Fast wifi so I worked Thursday and Friday from the dining table looking at trees.
